# Version requirements

> Make your resource refuse to run on a ug-core that is too old.

ug-core follows semantic versioning. Breaking changes to exports, config or database schema bump the major version.

## Declare it in the manifest

The simplest way. Your resource does not start against an older ug-core:

```lua fxmanifest.lua theme={null}
ug_core_version '1.2.0'
```

```text theme={null}
[ug-core] my-bank requires ug-core 1.2.0 or newer, found 1.0.0. Update ug-core.
```

## Check it in code

```lua theme={null}
UgCore.Version.Require('1.2.0')          -- raises when older
UgCore.Version.IsAtLeast('1.3.0')        -- true or false, to adapt instead
UgCore.Version.Get()                     -- '1.4.2'
```

Versions compare as numbers: `1.10.0` is newer than `1.9.9`. Suffixes such as `-beta.1` are ignored.

## Newer major versions

When ug-core has a newer major version than you require, `Require` does not fail. It logs one warning, because the new major version may have broken something you use:

```text theme={null}
[WARN] my-bank was built for ug-core 1.x, found 2.1.0. Check the breaking changes of ug-core 2.0.0.
```
